Marymount University officials said Harris was a first-year graduate student studying clinical psychology and wanted to help children.
Harris, a 22-year-old from Maryland, was articulated dead at the scene after her sweetheart, who was in the traveler's seat and stayed uninjured, took control of the auto and controlled it to security. Family said she was studying counseling to help troubled kids like the 12-year-old boy who jumped off the overpass. According, to the authorities, she grabbed steering wheel of the SUV and managed to maneuver her vehicle off the I-66 stopping against a barrier on left shoulder of the concrete road. He was not injured in the incident. The boy; however, survived the fall and was taken to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
Virginia State Police originally said that a man had fallen off the overpass and appeared to have gone through the rear windshield but later clarified that a boy had jumped.

"That's the irony that we're at looking at right now", her father, Patrick Harris, told the Washington Post. She was fearless, she was absolutely fearless.
Her parents said Harris had a passion for working with children with severe behavioral problems and the way she died is not lost on them.
