Hardik sets Nov 3 deadline for Congress on Patidar quota

They played down Patel's electoral significance, noting that a leader of the stature of former chief minister Keshubhai Patel could notch up less than four per cent of votes when his Gujarat Parivartan Party (GPP) fought against the BJP in the 2012 elections.

Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) leader Hardik Patel on Saturday asked the Congress to clarify its stand on the Patel reservation issue or face protests during party vice-president Rahul Gandhi's upcoming visit to Surat. Patel has maintained that they don't want reservation under the Extremely Backward Class (EBC) category. "If it does not make its stand clear, an episode similar to Amit Shah could repeat in Surat", Hardik tweeted. With Rahul Gandhi slated to commence an election tour of the south Gujarat region in the first week of November, Hardik is warning of a frosty reception in case Congress seeks to take their support for granted and an amicable understanding is not worked out.

Vijay Rupani said that if Ahmed Patel was a patron of hospital from where 2 suspected ISIS terrorists were arrested then he should be held responsible.

On Friday, Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani demanded Mr Patel's resignation as Rajya Sabha MP, alleging that a suspected ISIS operative arrested recently used to work at a hospital where Patel had been a trustee earlier. We urge that a matter of national security should not be politicised for electoral gains.

First Charges Filed in Mueller's Investigation
Authorities were preparing to take anyone charged into custody on Monday, CNN reported, citing sources briefed on the matter. Later this summer, Mueller convened a federal grand jury in Washington , DC, in the case.

The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad arrested two suspected ISIS operatives Kasim Timberwala and Aabed Mirza on October 25. According to an FIR, one of the accused, Mohammed Kasim Stimberwala, earlier worked as a echo technician at Sardar Patel Hospital in Ankleshwar town of Bharuch in Gujarat, the home district of Ahmed Patel. The ATS however has mentioned only a Jewish synagogue during its investigations and no Hindu religious heads, as Rupani alleged.

The ATS claimed that they had carried out a recce of the place. Ahmed Patel is associated with the hospital.

Jayesh N Patel, a trustee of the hospital has denied that "Ahmed Patel or any of his family members are connected with the hospital and the trust in any away". Ahmed Patel disapproved the allegations as baseless.

"I am amazed by this kind of outrageous demands", Mr Chidambaram told reporters here.
