The paint is hardly dry on the production prototypes of the new 2018 Aston Martin Vantage, but it looks like Aston is ready to bash fenders out on the worldwide circuit with a race-ready GTE variant. It's lighter and more powerful than its predecessor, and is also significantly faster - but this comes at a cost, as it's around £25,000 more expensive than the old Vantage was.
The new Aston Martin Vantage has some big tyres to fill then, and luckily, Aston Martin aren't playing it safe. As a result, Aston Martin says the cabin is roomier than before, especially when it comes to headroom. With more than 13,000km of testing completed - including a 30-hour run at Navarra and a rigorous durability programme at Sebring - Aston reports the new car's reliability as being "exceptional straight out of the box" with the drivers saying that it's also easier to control on the limit than its predecessor.
At the heart of the new Vantage is Aston Martin's new alloy, 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine.
50 die in Adamawa mosque attack
The town's name was changed temporarily to Madinatul Islam, or "City of Islam" in Arabic, during the Boko Haram occupation. Mubi is in Adamawa state where Boko Haram held territory in 2014.
To ensure the new Vantage is the best handling model yet, the ZF transmission is mounted at the rear of the vehicle for an optimum 50:50 weight distribution, while torque vectoring adds further precision around corners, with a speed-dependent electric power steering system that has just 2.4 turns lock-to-lock.
The Vantage's bold new look has been influenced by the DB10 concept, in particular that car's shark-like nose, clamshell bonnet and slim LED headlights.
The new Vantage dispatches the sprint from 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds, and will hit a top speed of 195mph. It weighs around 3373 lbs and it speeds up to 60 miles per hour in just 3.6 seconds. Motorsport diffusers are a bit more hardcore than your average car's diffuser, and that's pretty damn evident here - the thing sticks out for days behind the rear bumper.
The photos of the Vantage's show an eye-catching interior that looks as stunning as anything we've seen from Lamborghini or Ferrari in recent years. This differential is linked to the car's electronic stability control system, so it can understand the car's behaviour, and react accordingly to direct the engine's power to the relevant wheel.
The Vantage is on sale now starting at $149,995. You get sporty seats with premium leather upholstery in dual tone pattern. Each makes the car's performance, and its engine sound, more aggressive.
