The Broncos, who have lot six straight games for the first time in 27 seasons, announced that McCoy had ben fired Monday, Nov. 20, and replaced by quarterbacks coach Bill Musgrave. Joseph just doesn't want interceptions.
Bill Musgrave does have a shot at earning the offensive coordinator job. But they also know throwing Lynch into the mix if he's not mentally ready could ruin him. "Our running game has been good, but our passing game has not been good, in my opinion".
Of course, many will argue John Elway's failure to replenish the QB cupboard following the retirement of Peyton Manning, not McCoy's struggles to maximize one of the NFL's worst QB situations, is at the root of the Broncos' issues. So, the game against the Raiders would be three months since he last saw the field in a preseason game, and almost a full calendar year since he played for keeps.
Joseph and McCoy, of course, tried to fix this earlier in the season by making a quarterback change from Trevor Siemian to Brock Osweiler. "Although this wasn't an easy decision, we needed to make this change".
The Broncos rank 30th in the 32-team National Football League in passing efficiency with Siemian and Osweiler combining for a 73.2 rating. The way to do that, according to the head coach, is also simple: simplify.

As to the possibility of another nuclear explosion, the NIS said there are now no signs of an imminent test. Asked to elaborate on the punishment, the lawmaker said that the NIS is still trying to figure it out.
"Moving to Billy, I think we're going to have a chance to have a more efficient pass game with simplifying the concepts and helping our quarterbacks have a cleaner progression on where to go with the ball", Joseph said. "That's why [the coaching change] was made", Joseph elaborated. This will be his chance to show what he can do with an offense that has not been doing a whole lot. McCoy's failure to do that led to his firing. Lynch started two games previous year but hasn't played in a regular-season game since going a conservative, 12 of 24 for 104 yards in a 20-10 win at Jacksonville on December 10, 2016.
"Mike chose us and I chose Mike".
For Musgrave, simplicity will be key. When asked if the Broncos will move forward with Osweiler-the starter the previous three games-Joseph was non-committal, saying, "Not sure".
"I have a responsibility to do what's best for our football team", Joseph said in a statement.
The changes could be a precursor to giving former first-round draft pick Paxton Lynch an audition at quarterback. "But we haven't mastered anything", Joseph said. "We'll see what's Bill's vision from his offense and who fits it best".
