FIFA RANKINGS: Super Eagles tumble to 50th despite big win over Argentina

Senegal have leaped from third to top spot in the latest Africa rankings by the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA).According to its November rankings released on Thursday, the world football governing body says the Teranga Lions are the best team on the continent.

Despite their loss to Sweden denying them a place at the World Cup for the first time in 60 years, Italy still moved up one place to 14th.

The just concluded 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia qualifiers however have made their mark on the latest ranking, with Senegal and the winners of the European zone play-offs among the biggest climbers.

This is despite defeating Argentina 4-2 in a recent friendly some days back. Tunisia are in the second place with 834 points to move up one spot from 28th to 27th.

"Wow, that would be another great game for us to play before the World Cup and that will be a wonderful preparation for us to really test our ability before the World Cup", the Super Eagles vice-captain said.

The Democratic Republic of Congo remained fourth and Herve Renard-coached Morocco climbed two places to fifth after defeating the Ivory Coast to book a World Cup slot in Russian Federation.

Spain have risen two places to sixth, with Switzerland also entering the top ten after rising three places to eighth. They are seventh in Africa.
