Officials identified him as Mahad Abdiaziz Abdirahaman, 20, according to a local CBS report.
What started as simple robbery attempt quickly escalated into a violent, multi-victim incident after the would-be thief was caught stealing from two men inside a fitting room.
Bloomington police say they have a subject in custody following a stabbing that injured two people Sunday night at the Macy's store at the Mall of America. One person was stabbed in the back; another was stabbed multiple times. The second victim was stabbed after trying to intervene. They don't believe the suspect knew the victims and Potts said he didn't know yet where the victims were from.
Upon his arrest, Abdirahaman was charged with two counts of first-degree assault. Authorities say both men suffered non-life-threatening injuries. There is a large police presence at the mall as authorities investigate the incident.
