Allegedly among them, Miguel "Timido" Angel Lopez-Abrego, who authorities recently arrested in North Carolina on November 11. He has since been charged with first-degree murder and was extradited to Montgomery County, where he faced a bond review Wednesday.
The informant said that he, Lopez-Abrego and eight other MS-13 gang members lured the victim to Wheaton Regional Park this spring.
On the day of the killing, a gang member allegedly "waited near the edge of the wood line with a handheld walkie-talkie radio to alert" the others when the victim approached, according to court records obtained by the Post. For about two weeks, they planned how to get the man to go from the Annapolis area to Wheaton because they planned to kill him and dispose of his body, the informant told police.
Once he arrived, police said he was stabbed, decapitated and they later learned "his heart had been excised from his chest and thrown into the grave".
Court documents do not specify what motive the alleged killers had to commit the crime. Police said the unidentified victim was stabbed over 100 times.
There isn't much known about the victim other than the authorities think he's Hispanic. They said he had a "missing bottom tooth near the front of tooth" that "would have been obvious when he was speaking or smiling".
