Tennessee "Makes Pitch" to Mike Gundy

While it seems unlikely Gundy would leave his alma mater and a location that seems to fit his style, Tennessee is wise to interview him.

Another option for Tennessee is USC offensive coordinator Tee Martin, who we've been told is in play for this job and has a legit shot at it. Martin has coached in the SEC as an assistant at Kentucky.

According to Allen, Gundy was in Oklahoma City on Monday when Tennessee was asked to meet, but Gundy said he was busy. He then took the head coaching position in 2005 and has been the head coach since. With the move, Gundy would head a program that clearly has the state's undivided support, unlike in Oklahoma, where the Cowboys are often overshadowed by the Sooners. It will be the first bowl game for Purdue since 2012. He has also coached Oklahoma State for over a decade. He's led Oklahoma State to 10 or more wins in five of the last eight seasons counting this season, and the Cowboys are now 9-3 this year.

Ole Miss Names Interim Matt Luke Its Permanent Head Coach
Ole Miss isn't eligible for a bowl game this season after self-imposed sanctions due to receiving an NCAA notice of allegations. Bjork has said he wanted someone in place who has a clean background and, "will do things the right way".

The talk swirling around Gundy comes two days after the Volunteers backed out of the hiring agreement involving leading candidate Greg Schiano following a public backlash and campus protests.

This story will be updated if more information becomes available.

Over the last 10 seasons, Oklahoma State has earned nine-plus victories in eight years.
