The family is rallying around Garner, hoping she'll pull through.
Garner has been in a coma since Saturday, when an asthma attack triggered a heart attack.
"She's not gone, she's brain dead", Garner's heartbroken mother explained early Thursday. 27-year-old Erica became an outspoken critic of police brutality after her father's death.

BuzzFeed News published the controversial dossier in January, which includes many salacious claims that have not been verified. As Newsweek pointed out, the president also addressed his tweet to a bogus Fox & Friends Twitter account.
A worker running Garner's Twitter account stated Wednesday night that a "cat scan shows Erica suffered major brain damage from a lack of oxygen while in cardiac arrest".
Garner also had a heart attack in August shortly after giving birth to her son, named after her father. She soon became a prominent figure in the Black Lives Matter movement. Doctors said the pregnancy had put strain on her heart, which was found to be enlarged.
In the years since her father's death, Erica Garner has remained active as a protester and speaker. Several friends and former colleagues from her more than 30 years in Atlanta TV called in to share their thoughts, per AJC.com.
"I'm struggle right now from the stress of everything", she said, "because the system, it beats you down".
