Xiaomi says it will start shipping the device from December 7 through Flipkart, Mi.com/in, and the company's own stores and preferred partners. After teasing for the past few days, Xiaomi today released the 'Desh Ka Smartphone'. A 12-megapixel shooter will be included on the back of that handset, while a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper is also expected.

Xiaomi had a wonderful time this year, especially in India. Indian Express reported that Xiaomi now holds 23.5 percent of smartphone shipments in India and sitting at No. 1 spot alongside with Samsung. It can be expanded upto 128GB with mirco-SD card. At the price point at which it is being sold, Redmi 5A is the best option available in the market. Also, there will be two variants of the each phone, one with 3GB RAM/32GB ROM and another with 4GB RAM/64GB ROM.

The Redmi 5A will sport a 13 megapixel primary camera, with an f/2.2 aperture.

There is no information about the plan extending to other phones, but as far as the Redmi 5A users are concerned, Jio has its ₹199 plan and no other competitor is offering such benefits as of now.

The Redmi 5A will be equipped with a 5 inch HD IPS display with a 720p screen resolution.

HDMI 2.1 officially launched, supports upto 10K resolution
Auto Low Latency Mode automatically sets the ideal latency setting for lag-free and uninterrupted viewing and interactivity. The HDMI 2.1 Compliance Test Specification (CTS) will be published in stages throughout the first three quarters of 2018.

The smartphone has a 5MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture with a decent recording quality. The device comes in two variants: 2GB RAM with 16GB storage and 3GB RAM with 32GB storage. You might be thinking the camera performance to be average on the Redmi 5A - after all, the phone only costs Rs 4999.

The Redmi 5A is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery underneath, which is actually lesser than 3,120 mAh found on the Redmi 4A but sufficient for what should be a day long battery life. Xiaomi has baked in a 3,000mAh battery on the Redmi 5A and the company claims a standby of up to 8 days and 7 hours of video playback. It will feature Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) with an LED flash.

The Redmi 5A sports a polycarbonate body with a metallic matte finish that looks quite polished.

The dual-sim phone also has IR-blaster which can control home appliances with Xiaomi's Mi Remote App.
