Lady Overboard On Carnival Cruise

A woman reportedly fell overboard a cruise ship in the Gulf of Mexico Sunday night and a search has been started to find her, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reported.

A search is now underway for a woman who went overboard the Carnival Triumph cruise ship which is based out of New Orleans.

The Triumph operates four- and five-day cruises from New Orleans.

A woman died after falling off a balcony on board the Carnival Elation on Friday.


'The ship's medical team responded immediately, but, unfortunately, she passed away, ' Gulliksen said in his statement.

WVUE-TV reported that Carnival's CARE Team was providing support and assistance to the guest's family.

"We weren't [allowed] off the boat to Freeport until they investigated it. Our thoughts and prayers are with the deceased and her family". "They were taking pictures [and everything]", the text message read.

The U.S. Coast Guard, Jacksonville Sheriff's Department, FBI, and Bahamian law enforcement are now assisting in the investigation.

The ship had left New Orleans for Cozumel on Saturday, the Cruise Law News stated. Carnival Cruise Line confirmed the incident with a statement on Monday morning, saying that rescue efforts were underway. In October, eight-year-old Zion Smith fell from a deck aboard a Carnival ship docked in Miami and died.
