Manchester United's Ashley Young has been given a three-match ban by the Football Association (FA) after he accepted a charge of violent conduct.

Young appeared to elbow the Southampton midfielder in the stomach as they jostled at a corner during the second half of the 0-0 draw at Old Trafford on Saturday.

"Yes, he elbowed me and I asked him, "Why did you do this?". I can fall down but it was really unusual because I didn't expect that from him".

"Meanwhile, Naughton's charge follows an incident during yesterday's game against Watford which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video". He accepted a violent conduct charge following an off-the-ball incident during the game against Southampton but argued the suspension was excessive.

Wind Chill Values in the Single Digits New Year's Day
A wind chill warning remains in effect until noon today and a wind chill advisory remains in effect from 7 p.m. tonight to 11 a.m. New Year's Day will be sunny with highs in the low 20s but it will feel between 5º-10º most of the day.

Young will miss Premier League games against Everton and Stoke City as well as United's FA Cup third-round trip to Derby County.

This comes as a big blow for Jose Mourinho's side, who have been struggling to get positive results of late. The club has drawn its last three league fixtures and lost 2-1 to Bristol City in the quarterfinals of the EFL Cup.

Manchester United were forced to split the points after finishing in a scoreless deadlock with Southampton.
