[RUMOR] Apple is expanding iPhone X lineup

Building on a report from December, Kuo revealed that Apple has a total of three new iPhones up its sleeve for 2018: a 5.8-inch OLED iPhone X, a 6.5-inch OLED iPhone X Plus and a 6.1-inch Full Active LCD iPhone that's equipped with Animoji, Face ID and ultra-thin 0.5mm bezels.

But in the wake of poor sales, Apple has notified suppliers that it's to cut production targets by half for the first quarter, to 20 million, according to Japanese financial newspaper Nikkei.

There have been reports lately about Apple adding two new devices to the iPhone X lineup on top of the acclaimed iPhone X last came out past year.

However, sales during the holiday shopping season to end 2017 were apparently low in key markets, such as Europe, China, and the United States.

"After the first wave of demand has been fulfilled, the market now worries that the high price of the iPhone X may weaken demand in the first quarter", Zhang wrote. Typically, Q4 is a very good quarter for iPhone sales.

For those chasing a more premium device, Kuo believes Apple will release the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Plus models - the latter is tipped to have a massive 6.5-inch display, significantly bigger than the 4.7-inch display seen on last year's iPhone 8.

It features an OLED screen that spans from one edge of the device to the other and displays images in more vibrant colours.

Nikkei also notes that the inventory for the iPhone X is "starting to rise", after a period of shortages.

Meanwhile, iPhone SE 2 has also been rumoured to be arriving in March with an A10 Fusion chip, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB and 128GB storage capacities, and a slightly larger 1,700 mAh battery.
