1 officer killed, 3 injured during shooting in Colorado Springs

Deputy Micah Flick of the El Paso County Sheriff's office was killed by a male gunman during a vehicle theft investigation, Sheriff Bill Elder said in a press conference, according to ABC News.

Hours later, that's where a procession started to transport Deputy Micah Flick's body to the El Paso County Coroner's Office. The veteran police officer is survived by his wife and two seven year old twin children.

The injured officers were hospitalized and their names were not revealed.

One civilian was also wounded by gunfire and transported to an area hospital.

5 p.m.: Sources confirm an El Paso County deputy was shot and killed in some sort of shootout with suspects Monday afternoon.

Police said all suspects have been accounted for.

Flick was shot after the suspect led him and other officers on a pursuit.

Community rallies behind law.

The Gazette reported that dozens of police and sheriff's vehicles were in the area, as well as a Colorado State Patrol vehicle and several unmarked law enforcement vehicles. Three other Douglas County deputies, a Castle Rock Police Department officer and two residents in neighboring apartments were wounded in the shootout that ended when the suspect was killed by a SWAT unit. Authorities confirm the suspect is dead and no other suspects are at large.

Adams County Deputy Heath Gumm died January 24 while chasing a suspect wanted in connection with a fight at an apartment complex.
