Following reports late a year ago that Nintendo was pushing the Nintendo Switch Online service to sometime in "fall 2018", the company has now announced just when we'll be able to pay for a better online experience! 3, Balloon Fight, and Dr. Mario.

After Nintendo's latest earnings report, we got a clearer look than ever into exactly how successful Nintendo is right now. The Wii U was not.

Nintendo reported that Super Mario Odyssey was the best-selling game for the Switch, with global sales of more than 9 million units. Dubbed Toy-Cons, the build-it-yourself are expected to make the console appeal to the mainstream market by added new ways to interact with its games other than the Joy-Cons.

Nintendo offers It's a 360 degree experience as now gamers can practically play the games anywhere they want.

Total sales of Switch now stand at 14.86 million units (as at December 31st 2017) compared to Wii U's 13.56 units sold.

The Japanese magazine Nikkei recently published an interview with the President and CEO of Nintendo, Tatsumi Kimishima, from whom some details of the company's programs have emerged regarding Switch in particular, as well as the desire to extend support beyond 5-6 years of the life cycle.

In recent years, Nintendo did an about-face to its past policy of shunning smartphone games, and has scored success in that sector as well.

This basic feature will then be upgraded with new features such as leaderboards and multiplayer.

"Aside from Labo, we've also prepared other ways of expanding ways to play on the Nintendo Switch", Kimishima said in the first meeting with journalists, as Wall Street Journal's Takashi Mochizuki writes on Twitter. Once it is activated, subscribers will be able to access online multiplayer modes, the voice chat app and online lobby, free downloads of games each month, and exclusive deals from Nintendo.
