Victoria Beckham shocked fans earlier this week when she said she would unite with ex-bandmates Geri Horner, Melanie C, Mel B and Emma Bunton.

Their cosy meeting at Geri's house also marked the first time the five-piece had been pictured together since 2012.

A statement released by the group said: "We have enjoyed a wonderful afternoon catching up and reminiscing about the unbelievable times we have spent together. So many kisses! X Exciting x".

Speaking of their future, the girls stated, "The time now feels right to explore some incredible new opportunities together".

Yes, stop right now: The Spice Girls will be back.

The statement (shared with Entertainment Weekly) claims that the women "enjoyed a wonderful afternoon catching up and reminiscing about the fantastic times", which was visible in the Instagram photos. The five chart-toppers "are always overwhelmed at how much interest there is across the whole world for the Spice Girls". In a statement, the group said new ventures will embrace the original essence of the Spice Girls and reinforce messages of female empowerment.

The Sun newspaper says projects could include a TV talent show, though it said Saturday a live tour isn't planned.

The group previously reformed in 2007 for a reunion tour, and again in 2012 to perform at the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics.
