U.S. National Intelligence Director Dan Coats told the Senate Intelligence Committee Tuesday during its annual worldwide threats hearing that North Korea's weapons of mass destruction will pose a significant danger to the U.S. and its allies in the near future.
"We expect Russian Federation to continue using propaganda, social media, false-flag personas, sympathetic spokesmen and other means to influence, to try to build on its wide range of operations and exacerbate social and political fissures in the United States", Coats added.
US spy agencies said past year they had determined Russian Federation used hacking and propaganda in an effort to tilt the 2016 presidential election in favor of the Republican candidate, Donald Trump.

Senator Mark Warner, Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, said he is concerned that China has developed an all-of-society, not just all-of-government, approach to gain access to sensitive technologies and intellectual property.
In what should come as a surprise to literally no one, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, Donald Trump - in his heart of hearts - still does not believe that Russian Federation meddled in the 2016 presidential election.
"Frankly, the United States is under attack", he said.
American Intelligence Chief Dan Coats has claimed that Pakistan is developing new types of nuclear weapons, including short-range tactical ones.
Senators and the spy bosses said they anxious that the past denials about collusion and the partisan battles have stolen the focus in Washington from what should be the main national effort - deterring interference and defending elections now and in the future.
At the end of the hearing, Committee Chairman Richard Burr, R-N.C., said that the panel hoped to release publicly the findings of its Russian Federation investigation "before the primaries begin" in March.
