Mysuru Division of South Western Railway celebrates Women's Day

Coimbatore: Salem Town railway station would be initiated as the first All-Women Railway Station in Salem Division of Southern Railway, a top official said today. Ajni station would have 28 women staff which include 1 station manager, 6 commercial clerks, 4 ticket checkers, 4 luggage porters, 4 cleanliness staff and 9 Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel.

Chairman Railway Board Ashwani Lohani recently instructed that all the 68 divisional units that Indian Railways network is divided into should identify at least one station in its jurisdiction and hand it over to an all-woman crew.

This would be the first time in East Central Railway's history that every post at a railway station would be taken over by women personnel.

Maninagar railway station and Matunga Road station on the Western Railway line in Mumbai became all-women stations from Thursday on the occasion of International Women's day.

President of Southern Railway Womens' Welfare Organisation Anitha Verma presented prizes to the women employees who had won in various competitions held as part of the Women's Day.

Dr Atul Gupta, Divisional Railway Manager, Mysuru, A K Sinha, ADRM, Mysuru and Other officers and staff from Mysuru Division were part of the programme.
