Superhero film 'Black Panther' becomes most tweeted about movie of all time

JOHANNESBURG -Marvels' comic block buster, Black Panther, has broken global records since its release and now it is breaking social media records too. Previous record holder Star Wars: The Force Awakens was demoted to second place, while Star Wars: The Last Jedi finished in third place.

Black Panther has dominated the box office for five consecutive weekends.

It has grossed more than 607 million dollars (£433 million) domestically and 1.2 billion dollars (£856 million) worldwide.

Superhero blockbuster Black Panther has become Twitter's most-mentioned movie ever. And, yeah, you can definitely give Black Panther some credit for Avengers taking the number three spot, as well. Lamar shared a copy of the list of songs in the Black Panther album on January 31. Furthermore, the most retweeted posts about the film are Kendrick Lamar's unveiling of the soundtrack list, a video of children attempting to buy tickets using the classic trench coat disguise, and former First Lady Michelle Obama's tweet in which she congratulated the cast and praised the film. His tweet was shared over 240,000 times.

Twitter revealed more stats about Black Panther's Twitter presence, including which hashtags fans used, their favorite emojis associated with the movie, and their favorite characters, none of which should come as a major surprise to fans. The film took just 26 days to reach the $1 billion mark while maintaining its top position.
