Two weeks into spring and eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa are maintaining a tight grip on winter.

Highest accumulations today will be in the Little and Big Belt Mountains.

Impacts of this next storm will be similar to the one on Monday.

The National Weather Service posted a winter storm warning for a large area stretching from southwestern Minnesota east through central Wisconsin and into northeastern MI.

While many areas in the Northeast will be bracing for snow later this week, Minnesota will enter the weekend with frigid temperatures.

Up to 14 inches (35.5 centimeters) of snow were reported farther north. "Those few days though brought enough to push the average up". New York City saw a whopping 13.5 inches in April 1875. With clear skies, calm winds, and several inches of fresh snow on the ground, temperatures will drop into the low teens or upper single digits. The main story will be the temperatures; highs will only be in the upper 20s this afternoon.

Once the storm moves out tomorrow, Locker said it will remain cool.

Wednesday won't be almost as warm, as the high will only reach the low 40s and the low will dip into the mid 20s.

After looking at the long range forecast Locker said it will be some time before Alpena sees temperatures in the 40s and even longer before they climb into the 50s.
