The Undertaker will take on Rusev in a Casket match in King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah. Whether this influenced WWE's decision to move Rusev from his one-on-one match with Taker to the 50-man Rumble is unknown.
It will be the first time ever that the two have gone head-to-head in a singles match on a WWE Network Special.
In storyline, WWE made the change because Lana, Rusev's real-life wife, talked to WWE officials and refused to let Rusev compete in a Casket Match.
Rusev was the man originally scheduled to grapple the legend, but now WWE chiefs have secured free agent Jericho's services. Although Jericho has never been a part of such an ominous showdown, WWE's first Undisputed Champion has battled in virtually every other kind of match WWE has to offer, and if his extensive résumé says anything, it's that he knows how to win when it counts. In the interview, Rusev said, "Just a little bit".
Salah, Kane Lead PFA Player Of Year Nominees
Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane has also been nominated, while Manchester United's David de Gea is the only goalkeeper on the list. The Spain playmaker has eight goals and 11 assists to his name in a City team which has dominated the competition this year.
PWInsider Elite Audio's Mike Johnson cited Rusev asking for his release prior to WrestleMania 34 as one possible reason for him being added last-minute to the U.S. Championship match.
What do you think of Rusev being swapped with Jericho? "I'll beat him so bad it may be his last fight".
