It had been suggested that Mr Trump may avoid visiting London during the trip in order to avoid expected mass protests.

There is also speculation Mr Trump could seek to fit in a quick visit to the Turnberry golf course, which his family business owns.

Asked whether Trump was aware of the "Stop Trump" campaign urging protestors to take to the streets in London, Johnson insisted Trump was "very thick-skinned" and "knows what he wants to do". "He will also no doubt see that Londoners hold their liberal values of freedom of speech very dear", tweeted Khan.

Trump isn't super popular in the U.K. Last year, thousands of people protested amid reports May was planning an official visit from Trump.

And, prior to the 2016 U.S presidential election, Khan told British broadcasters that he hoped Hillary Clinton "trounces" Trump and said that he would be happy to educate Trump about Islam.

How has UK Home Secretary Amber Rudd managed to keep her job?
On Wednesday Ms Rudd denied targets were used, when she faced MPs investigating the problems faced by the Windrush generation. Rudd said she had asked officials to provide her with a "full picture of performance measurement tools" used at all levels.

Trump made a sudden announcement on January 11 that he has cancelled his trip to Britain due to disappointment over the new location of the U.S. embassy in London.

President Donald Trump is in the middle of a 5-country, 12-date tour of Asia, which now finds him in Beijing, China.

The visit of Donald Trump to London is finally scheduled for July 13.

Only yesterday, a number of the president's high-profile supporters in the United Kingdom urged him to snub London and instead concentrate on visiting Scotland, the birthplace of his mother. Last year, more than a million people had signed a petition demanding that the state visit be canceled.

It is yet to be seen if Trump will truly face major crowds of protesters in July, but it would certainly be gratifying for most of us in America to see our allies come out en masse in solidarity with the people and take a stand against the hate, bigotry, and misogyny that Trump represents.
