First Lady Melania Trump underwent kidney surgery Monday morning at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center near Washington, D.C., her office announced in a statement.

According to the White House, the First Lady had undergone a procedure known as an "embolization procedure", after seeking treatment at a hospital for her kidney condition. "The first lady looks forward to a full recovery".

The president visited her on Monday evening and tweeted that the procedure was "successful" and that his wife was in "good spirits". Doctors do that with an embolisation - snaking a catheter into the blood vessels of the kidney to find the right one and block it.

That means that the opening weekend for The Fate of the Furious represented roughly 49% of it's overall China gross. Infinity War even beat the previous record-holder Marvel's The Avengers , which grossed S$13.7 million in 2012.

Mrs. Trump, 48, was last seen in public on Wednesday at a White House event to honor military mothers and spouses.

Trump tweeted Tuesday that "our great First Lady is doing really well". Will be leaving hospital in two or three days. They have a 12-year-old son named Barron. "As her office has stated, the First Lady remains in good spirits".

Trump joked at lunch that support for the first lady was so high that he had her promise she wouldn't run against him, said a person familiar with the discussion but not authorised to discuss a private conversation. Trump also denies the allegations from Karen McDougal. Unlike Monday's inclement weather motorcade return, on Tuesday he left Walter Reed at 5:41 p.m. on Marine One to return to the White House.
