Whittaker Makes the Mark; Romero Does Not

But after Romero missed weight Friday, the title will no longer be on the line. It's a rematch of a contest from last July in which Whittaker (20-4) battled through a knee injury to eke out a unanimous 48-47 decision. The Australian fighter has not fought since then.

"There wouldn't be a fight", Whittaker said. In their first fight he attempted half as many strikes as Whittaker but landed them at a higher rate. Referee Dan Miraglotta watched closely, but Whittaker did enough to keep himself in the fight, trying to rise but being careful as he turtled not to take another concussive blow.

Bisping on what should happen if you miss weight in the UFC: "If you miss weight twice, boom, you're cut from the organization". That suggests there is potential for a stoppage.

"It's going to be a five-round fight".

An interim welterweight title fight between Rafael dos Anjos and Colby Covington will co-headline UFC 225. Front kicks to the body also landed for Whittaker, but Romero wouldn't stop, landing a right hand that again had Whittaker wobbled and struggling to stay upright. There's a strong likelihood the matchup goes the duration.
