YouTuber PewDiePie has apologised after he shared a meme online that was "insensitive" towards Demi Lovato, the pop-star who was rushed to hospital following a suspected overdose on Tuesday.

Lovato's family wants the singer to check into a rehab outside Los Angeles as soon as she is discharged from the hospital.

Kelly took to her Instagram story to share a video of herself getting a temporal tattoo matching Demi's "Lion" tattoo.

Lovato has been outspoken in interviews, on social media and in her music about her past battles with drugs, an eating disorder and mental health issues.

"And I'm sure all her fans feel like that right now - just what can we do to help her?"

Demi Lovato, 25, could have died from her alleged overdose, sources close to the singer tell TMZ, adding, it was that serious.

When they split up for good in 2016, Lovato's mom said it "broke us all", according to People magazine.

Had it not been for her friends who used Narcan to revive her - only to high-tail out of her place before emergency workers arrived on the scene - Lovato probably wouldn't have pulled through. "She pushed away everyone that tried to call her out or help her including sober coaches, friends and management", the source said. "I promise I'll get help". Speaking to E!, a source explained, "She slipped up and thought she could handle it". "I didn't think I would make it to 21". However, back in June she released a single called "Sober", where she disclosed her relapse. Since her hospitalization, Lovato's mother, Dianna De La Garza, and her sister Madison De La Garza have been by her side as she recovers.

When she couldn't wake Demi, she called emergency services.
