Samsung updates tablet lineup with Galaxy Tab S4 and Tab A

Samsung on Wednesday announced the launch of its new mid-range phone, the Galaxy On8 (2018). The South Korean company continues to sell tablets despite low consumer demand.

The Samsung Galaxy On8 has inherited Infinity Display design from the premium Galaxy phones from the company. The display promises sharp and vibrant colours along with an immersive viewing experience thanks to narrow bezels and a tall 18.5:9 aspect ratio.

New Samsung Galaxy On8 features a 6-inch (1480 x 720 pixels) HD+ Super AMOLED 18.5: 9 Infinity 2.5D curved glass display. The Snapdragon 450 SoC powers the smartphone along with 4 GB of RAM. Buyers have the option to chose between 64 GB and 256 GB storage choices.

Rear camera: The device bears a dual rear camera setup that includes a 16-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor with f/1.9 aperture. Device storage is expandable with support for microSD card slot. The phone also has 16 megapixels front camera with LED flash and f/1.9 aperture.

- The Galaxy On8 comes with a couple of "Make for India" features as well such as Chat Over Video and Samsung Mall. The handset is preinstalled with Android 8.1 Oreo that is overlaid with Samsung Experience UX.

A fingerprint scanner is present on the backside of the Galaxy On8. Additional features include Wi-Fi 802.11ac, 4G LTE (optional), Bluetooth 5.0, and Global Positioning System for connectivity as well as a Book Cover keyboard which can convert the tablet device into a 2-in-1 laptop.

The Galaxy On8 has identical specifications as the Galaxy J8 that is available offline as well as in other markets.

The Galaxy On8 is priced at Rs 16,990 and will be available online via Flipkart and Samsung's e-store starting August 6. "With Galaxy On8, we have emphasized more on the camera, which is one of the most used features by millennials today", said Sandeep Singh Arora, Vice President, Online Business, Samsung India in a press statement.
